How much public charging costs
Each operator (ESB ecars, EZO, Weev, Tesla, Ionity, Applegreen, Circle K, ePower…) sets its own price, and it can change depending on the app, card or membership you use, so the same charger can cost different people different amounts. Public charging prices in Ireland include 9% VAT. Under the EU AFIR rules, public chargers must show the price per kWh and new fast chargers (50 kW or more) must accept card payment. Charging at home at night, on a night rate or EV tariff, is almost always far cheaper.
